Hi PenreiteOil Engineers,
I own a Toyota LC78 2018 VDJ78, that just run out of 3yr warranty.

I plan to carry out normal maintenance routine myself and would appreciate your advice on the engine oils to be used .

As per Owners' Manual, the oil recommendation is ACEA C2 0w-30 (preferred) or 5w-30. As U are aware there are not many options available for these on the market, for diesel vehicles with PDF and ERG.

I notice that Penrite has :

1.    ENVIRO+ C2 0W-30 (FULL SYN.)
2.    ENVIRO+ C3 5W-30 (FULL SYN.)

My question is can I safely use the Penrite C3 5w-30 above, instead of the Penrite C2 0w-30 ? as I can see the specs for the Penrite C3 5w-30 does include ACEA C2, ACEA C3.

As we are in Australia, I dont think I will ever drive in sub Zero Celsius temperature, and would prefer to use the Penrite C3 5w-30 .

Or is it imperative that I stick by C2 0w-30 ?

Also is it feasible to interMix 50/50  Penrite C2 and C3 in the same engine, or it has to be exclusive C2 or C3.

Thank your for your time and advice.

Long VU .

Hi Long

You correctly note  that for the engine of the TOYOTA LANDCRUISER 2018 DIESEL 4.5 Turbo 3 Door Troop Carrier MANUAL/ (4WD) 151kw 1VDFTV CRD VDJ78R we recommend the oils you have noted. Our E+C3 meets the ACEA C2 requirements specified by Toyota for this model making it suitable here.

As a 5Wxx oil is tested at -30°C it would be suitable for your vehicle anywhere in Australia and at any time of year.

We do not recommend mixing oils as you end up with a mixture of uncertain specification and of unknown performance.

Cheers

Costa
