The front diff in a Subaru 2015 Outback specifies Subaru Extra MT Gear Oil, part number SOA748V0100. This is apparently the same as Mitasu MJ-441, and as far as I can see should be compatible with Penrite Trans Gear 75W-80.

Can you confirm this?

Thank you

Kind regards,

Hi Tate,

It is a 2.5l. Subaru specify 75W-80 GL4/5 for the front diff and 75W-90 GL5 for the rear.

Regards,

Michael

Hi Michael,

The information provided to us shows the manufacturer requesting the use of an API GL-5 specification oil in a 75W-90 viscosity. With that we recommend our Pro Gear 75W-90 https://penriteoil.com.au/products/pro-gear-75w-90-100-pao-ester or our Trans Gear 75W-90 https://penriteoil.com.au/products/trans-gear-75w-90-full-synthetic

Kind regards,

Tate

Hi Tate,

Thanks for the information. Here is a link to the OEM oil that Subaru uses for the front diff https://www.mitasuoil.com/en/mj-441 . You can see it has approval for Subaru SOA748V0100, which is what the service manual for the car says is needed for the front diff. Looking at the specifications for your Trans Gear 75W-80, it has approvals in common with MJ-441 (e.g., Honda MTF 7289, and Land Rover MTF 94), so I would have thought this would have made it a good choice. I already have 2.5l of it, so I was hoping to use it! What do you think?

Regards,

Michael
